From October those running Big Sur won't be able to use Steam.

Valve has announced that Steam will no longer run on any Mac's running macOS version 11 or earlier. This change will come into effect in October.

macOS 11, also known as 'Big Sur', was originally released back in 2020. Apple's operating system currently sits at version 15, dubbed Sequoia.

Valve explained that this upcoming change is due to Steam relying on an embedded, old version of Google Chrome. They also added:

"In addition, future versions of Steam will require macOS feature and security updates only present in macOS 12 and above."

I don't own a PC. As such, gaming is an activity mainly carried out either on my Switch 2 or Steam Deck. However, some of the games in my Steam library will happily run on my Mac — it's slowly been getting better for those looking to game on Mac, but it's still such a shot in the dark as to what has support and what will and won't work. I'd love to see compatibility improved, but I'm not holding my breath!
