Sony won't make a PS2 Classic, so this YouTuber did

Dammit Jeff's PS2 Mini

Creating a mini PS2 from scratch for some strong early noughties nostalgia.

YouTube tinkerer and DIY extraordinaire Dammit Jeff has been hard at work for the past two months, collaborating with JP Printz, to create a completely custom mini PS2. It's a thing of beauty:

Following Nintendo's lead, Sony joined in with the 'mini' console trend by releasing a PlayStation Classic back in 2018. However, a follow-up machine celebrating the much more successful PS2 never came.

That wrong has now been righted, thanks to this neat do-it-yourself undertaking. This 'PS2 Mini' project included creating a 3D printed case, printing decals, LED lights, and making custom software to play the vast library of PS2 classics.

I'm partial to a bit of GTA III, Burnout and some Katamari, so would love to have one of these at hand to play around with. The fact it would make a cute little addition to any desk is bonus. Top work!
