The ONEXSUGAR goes from being a regular handheld to a dual-screen portable.

The Kickstarter for One-Netbook's upcoming transformable handheld has just gone live, and this one is worth taking a look at just for how distinctive the hardware is.

It's pitched as a versatile device that can serve as regular gaming handheld, but can also quickly be reconfigured as a dual-screen device.

Of course, the obvious use case is for playing emulated Nintendo DS games, but manufacturer One-Netbook also suggest that the dual-screen setup can be used for having gameplay on one screen, with a guide on another — or to play media (such as a TV show) on one whilst playing a game on the second screen. Nice to have options I guess. Although, we don't always need to be multitasking. 😅

This "first-ever" portable features a roughly six inch main screen, along with a 3.92 inch second screen — both of which are OLED. Inside the Android 14 device you'll find a Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 powering things.

The rotating controllers and moving parts make this a highly unique offering, and, as shown on the Kickstarter page, the device can be played in a multitude of configurations. The hinges appear to be made with a 'durable aluminium alloy', however I'm still kinda curious to see how these various moving parts all stack up long term.

The ONEXSUGAR is expected to ship in September, with prices starting at $599.
