Fresh data from SteamDB reveals that more folks than ever are currently playing the much-loved Metroidvania Hollow Knight, ahead of its sequel arriving next month.
The first Hollow Knight game arrived back in February of 2017, and since then has gone on to reportedly sell over six million copies. However, with the much-anticipated sequel 'Silksong' now just days away, many appear to be picking up the original game once more, likely hoping to revisit the Hallownest and refresh the memory of what this celebrated 2D action game is all about.
The game is also currently discounted on Steam (half price!), making it a good time for any new curious players to jump in and get a feel for Team Cherry's smash hit.
Those hoping to tackle the entire game will need to put the hours in though, as a typical run-through of Hollow Knight takes over 30 hours.

Data shared on SteamDB reveals that the original game is currently being played by over 45,000 players — an all-time high. Of course, this only accounts for Steam players, not those playing on other platforms — such as myself on my Switch 2.
Prior to this week, the game had only ever seen roughly 20,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, after the launch date reveal for Hollow Knight: Silksong, this rose sharply to the high we now see today.

Are you one of the 45,000 plus currently playing through original? You've got eight days. 🫡
