My PC is alive again, gamescom is over, and everyone is launching clamshell handhelds
Hi, hello, and welcome.
My PC is alive again (read more in last week's newsletter). Well, kinda. I couldn't figure out what was broken (my theory is that I somehow fried the motherboard), so instead I fixed the problem by throwing money at it.
I originally meant to upgrade next year, but since I couldn't figure out the issue I thought I might as well just go ham. I mean, after all I’m the guy who decided to buy a domain called overkill.wtf. So here is the new spec sheet of my totally reasonable gaming PC.

You can probably guess that I'm fairly happy with this new update. I played some Apex Legends, Hollow Knight (more about that soon), and Overwatch 2 on this machine, and I can basically just crank everything to max and hit a decent 240 FPS. (I haven't played Overwatch 2 in a while, but I really want to get back into it; unfortunately no one in my friend list currently plays this, so I think I need new friends?)
Anyway, gamescom took place this week, and while we weren't on the show floor this year, there is still much to report on. So let's get right into it!
I’ve said it a few times here on overkill already, but I’m a big fan of EmuDeck. That’s why I’m happy to say they’re supporting overkill. If you want to take things a step further, check out EmuDeck Early Access. You’ll get CloudSync to keep your saves across devices, early access to new features, direct 1 to 1 support, and access to exclusive Discord channels.
